Yuba Mundo

On Thursday I picked up a Yuba Mundo…. I know what you’re thinking; “ANOTHER BIKE!?” But seriously… this is the first new bike I’ve bought in… uh… over four years…? And I did drop one from the stable last year; the Cannondale Cross Bike that I stripped of parts to set Amanda up with a Soma Double Cross…

Though I’ve been eyeing up cargo utility bikes for years I wasn’t exactly in the market for one – but I kind of stumbled into a sweet deal on a barely used one at a price we just couldn’t refuse…

Anyway I took it out to get groceries on Friday… just to try it out… You know how it is… Considering I only needed a few things it was totally overkill.

In the end I bought more than I really planned on getting… just to try out loading it up a bit! Unfortunately loading it up with so damn much stuff on just one side seriously affected the handling… I’m going to have to get another bag or bin of some sort for the other side for future hauls… More on the Yuba later…

CVT's New Ride

In August my pal CVT from Edmonton was in town for a visit and while he was here we wandered into a couple bike stores just to have a look...

He walked out of the Bike Doctor with a Cannondale System Six...!?


We went for a ride out valley road that evening and he just kept riding away from me... (show off...)


Instead of painting the shed the next day... or building bookshelves... we went for another ride... Amanda may have not been too pleased, but just look at the smile on that dudes face! And that, my friends, is why I LOVE bicycles...

OOOH! OOOH! You heard it here first (or... maybe not...) - Ryan from Bicycle Smile is organizing another Alley Cat which will be (not quite) on Devil's Night! how do I know...!? because I did the poster/spoke card!!

Library on Twentieth

We rode the bike train over to the new branch Library on Twentieth to pick up a few books I'd requested....


There sure was a lot of space to park cars....


....an important consideration for a branch library in a less affluent neighborhood in the city's center.

There is no bike rack at all... but fear naught!!


.... we found a place to lock up nevertheless...

Amanda Took the Train

Well she HAULED the train...!

The other day Amanda tried hauling the kiddie train for the first time over to their grandma and grandpa's house. It's only a kilometre, relatively flat-going, and little traffic.

I'm not sure she's ready to haul them all the way to the zoo or anything just yet... but it's a start.

Sunday Ride to the Berry Barn

This afternoon we rode out to the Berry Barn to meet up with my folks and uncle and his family. It was the longest trip we've taken yet with the Bike Train.


We has a north west wind which was nice for getting out there. I think it took us about an hour.


On the way back we had a 28km/h gusting to 46 km/h head wind to contend with.


Finnegan was a little trooper and helped out a lot on the way back.


It took an hour and forty minutes to get back...

Corporate Rat Race Alley Cat

Ryan from Bicycle Smile put on another fun Alley Cat Race this evening - Below are some pics from the check point I was sitting at. Unlike the last one where pretty much everyone came all at once the racers were pretty spread out over a forty-five minute period.
