Amanda Took the Train

Well she HAULED the train...!

(Click on the picture to see a slightly bigger version)

The other day Amanda tried hauling the kiddie train for the first time over to their grandma and grandpa's house. It's only a kilometre, relatively flat-going, and little traffic.

I'm not sure she's ready to haul them all the way to the zoo or anything just yet... but it's a start.

  1. Hi - I too live in Saskatoon and am looking to expand our family bike collection with a Yuba. Although we could do the bike train thing too! I take it from the blog that you've been happy with yours, other than the kickstand failure? Who do you recommend buying from?

  2. yeah, other than some cheap parts wearing out quickly and the total kickstand mounting bit failure... we're pretty happy with Yuba!

I got mine used from a guy who got it direct from Yuba.

I know Escape Sports had one in stock last year (and might still have it).

If you talk to your favourite local bike store and ask them real nice, they might be able to get one in from the Canadian distributor (Ryan at the Bike Doctor is looking into ordering me some parts from them...).

  3. The Yuba, I will point out, I find to be a lot less work to tow than the train (even though one child is ostensibly "helping") and infinitely more stable.

well... maybe not "infinitely"... but certainly a "lot more" stable...

  4. Thanks for the perspective Tim. I wish I'd actually asked you about your bike last week - as I now realize it was you and your kids that I saw at Steep Hill. I was the one with a baby bucket in one arm and a 10kg bag of flour in the other. I had to stop by with the car (so frustrating) because I don't currently have a way to haul that much weight and the little one. Hopefully you'll see me around with a Yuba soon...

  5. Ah ha! Small world! Well... small town... (and small store!).

There's a great blog worth checking out just for the pics of some bins built for a Yuba for hauling little ones (among other things):
